Starburst Christmas Tree Skirt – Behind the Seams

I recently moved into my first home, and even though I won’t be home on Christmas, I still wanted to decorate for the holiday. I work in the ecom world which means my brain has been in holiday mode for a couple of months now, so I am excited that the rest of the world finally thinks it acceptable to be in the holiday spirit!! 😃 One of the things I knew I was going to need was a Christmas Tree Skirt. All of my other Christmas Decorations are a monochromatic white and silver theme, so I decided I would have a little bit of fun with my tree skirt.

Joann’s was having an AMAZING sale on Christmas fabric for Black Friday so I picked up most of what I needed that weekend. I was able to complete both of the panels relatively quickly. This is the first quilt that I have made that uses the “Quilt As You Go” technique and I really like it!

Once I got the wedges cut, it went together really quickly. I had a small issue with the outside edges not lining up but I simply printed a quarter circle and evened them up.

Although you use the “Quilt as You Go” method for the front you still need to back it with something. You can decide whether or not you want to add any quilting at this step. I decided to stitch in the ditch between the wedges, just to tack it down a little bit.

This was a quick and easy project, which helped make sure it was done in time for Christmas this year!!
