It is mid-July again which means it is time for the annual Southern California Quilt Run! This year there is 17 shops from Palm Springs to San Diego participating in the run! My mom and I spent the day yesterday on the road visiting six of the quilt shops on the run, we came away with a modest haul and wanted to share with you all!

Our first stop was Sewn Together Quilt Shop is a new to us quilt shop in Norco, CA. The ladies were very friendly and we are able to pick out an adorable dragonfly fat quarter. Mom also bought a gingham fat quarter.

Quilter’s Cocoon is a fairly large store in Riverside, CA. We were each given a tan umbrella fat quarter. I also picked up a tribal remnant that I plan to use in my Fussy Cut Sampler quilt.

After a detour to Primitive GatheringsMoore’s Sewing Center, a yummy lunch at Richie’s Diner and another detour to Temecula Quilt Co our next Quilt Run stop was Quilter’s Cottage in Fallbrook, CA. We both got beautiful cool toned fat quarters and since this was our third stop we also got a bonus pattern which shows you how to put all of the free block patterns you get together. I also couldn’t resist this beach fabric and textile sample fat quarter.

Quilt in a Day

After a quick caffeine fuel up at Starbucks we stopped by Quilt in a Day in San Macros, CA. They go all out for the quilt run and had a whole booth set up for the Quilt Run participants. In addition to giving everyone a free fat quarter, every hour on the hour they do a drawing where you can win a variety of prizes. Mom won a free pattern and I won 25% off our whole purchase! We definitely took advantage and got a few fat quarters and some yardage. (could you really say no to those octopuses?!?!) Because we spent over $25 we also got a free gift, a pattern and a mini cookbook!

Our next stop was Fat Quarters Quilt Shop in Vista, CA. Here we each got to pick out our fat quarters. I also picked up this adorable plane fabric. We had exact change for the fabric we purchased and so we got ANOTHER prize!

Inspirations Quilt Shop

Our last stop of the day was Inspirations Quilt Shop in Valley View, CA. They had a whole host of snacks for the weary quilt run participants and we each got to pick out our own fat quarters. I fell in love with the fabric from their Row by Row pattern and had to pick some up for a wall hanging in my office!

I also picked up the Southern California Quilters’ Run pin and year bar. If you are looking to get a Southern California Quilters’ Run year bar make sure you ask for one at one of your first stops because at least one of the stops we visited were already out!

We hopefully will be hitting a few more stops next weekend before turning in our passports! Are you participating this year? Which shops are you planning on stopping at?
